The Holy Eucharist is the sacrament which contains the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ under the appearance of bread and wine.
Only Catholics who are fully received by the Church and in a state of grace may partake in Holy Communion. Catholics are required by the Church to fast one hour before reception of the Lord.
Non-Catholics and Catholics not in a state of grace are called to abstain from receiving Holy Communion.
As the Eucharist is truly and substantially Jesus Christ, special care must be taken by the faithful when discerning whether one is prepared to receive the Lord.
Any ill parishioner who is in need of having Holy Communion brought to them should please contact the Parish Office at 530-662-2805 to make arrangements. We have dedicated Ministers who can visit, pray with you, and bring you Holy Communion.
A child's preparation for their First Holy Communion begins at home. The family plays the most important role in communicating the Christian values that are the foundation of a child's understanding of the Holy Eucharist.
